Tatiana Funk headshot
I'm Tatiana Funk, though I frequently go by Tanya.

I live in Calgary, AB, Canada where the mountains are close and the climbing gyms even closer. I play an important role in the local dog rescue community, and my home is full of brain slices.

I don’t see myself as an expert in any one specialization, but a well-rounded creator who thrives in a collaborative environment. There are so many ways to interact, absorb information, and explore the world around us. I love combining different disciplines to create interesting, interactive experiences for education, medicine and entertainment.

My last 5 years at a glance:

  • 3 years as a director of the Calgary Game Developer's Association (CGDA)
  • 3 years as a lead level designer at Shifty Eye Studios
  • Designed encounters and encounter archetypes during early access of Nightingale
  • Have helped mentor and design on a number of unannounced studio projects at Studio Monsoon

Previously, I built interactive virtual training simulators and e-learning tools for medical and energy industries. To date, I have helped ship over a dozen products for use on PCs, tablets, and VR headsets. I have worked in Unity for over a decade, and have 2 years of experience in Unreal 5.3+.

My strongest skills:

  • Level Design (blockouts, kitbashing, functional prototypes)
  • Encounter Design (primarily combat and puzzle)
  • Game Design (overall flow, core game mechanics)
  • User Interface Design and Development
  • 3D Modeling, Texturing, and Scene Building
  • Development of Features and Interactions in Unity3D
  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration
